Hello Friend,
Welcome to Sunday Supper, the table is set!
When I want a fresh feast, I whip up this Chicken Shawarma that closely resembles some of the best street cart food I had in NYC. After flying in late on one visit, I grabbed a quick meal from a halal cart next to my hotel, and it was one of the freshest and flavorful meals ever. I went to culinary school in Portland Oregon, where street carts reign supreme, so I've always loved them.

I like to make a big meal out of this when I put it together. Make some tzatziki sauce, pickled red onions, toast some pita bread, and best of all, make some saffron rice.

I serve it up as a shawarma bowl, giving it the same feel of picking up your order from the take-out window.

This is a meal that I crave and falls into one of my favorite Greek/Middle Eastern recipe categories. They have many relatable dishes and qualities, all of which I love to explore.

Quick Pickles Onions and Cukes
These quick pickled vegetables bring a perfectly light balance to all the rich flavors of the chicken shawarma. The spices in the chicken complement the bright tang of this simple side dish.

Baba Ghanoush with Toasted Garlic
Next to the hummus recipe that I shared in last weeks email, this is my favorite Middle Eastern dip recipe. Blending up charred eggplant and balancing it beautifully with olive oil, tahini, and garlic makes for a fantasic dip!
